Happy Friday, folks!
There is much to remember and honor this weekend, and we’ll be getting into that shortly. In the meantime, with a bit of a silly and miscellaneous wrap up of last week…
Shaquille O’Neal’s mother is named…Lucille O’Neal. Why have I not realized this before? Although two data points don’t make a trend, do I see a pattern? The almost-mathematical beauty of how many ways these names can rhyme is delightful. :)
The State of New York is selling robots to lonely senior citizens in effort to cheer them up. That’s rich. I hope the recipients train them into an avenging army to stop this madness. In all seriousness, do we like this dystopian world we’re creating of our own volition and compromises? I’ll be taking a swing at the Loneliness issue with writing and a revamped Letters from Josh. More to follow, but in the meantime, here’s a podcast I just did about it. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
The Lynchburg Piano Jam commences this evening. I’ve got some new music buddies in town, and we’ll be jamming on the outdoor pianos downtown this evening, weather permitting. Check out the Instagram live stream just after 6 pm! (Or bring your favorite kazoo!) We need a funky cool name - any ideas?
And now for our main story…
I actually just deleted it. Right now. I spent an hour writing out a convoluted bit of self-aggrandizing “advice” for a younger person - a fellow creative. It had a few good points, but mannnn it belongs in the garbage can, which is where it now resides.
The world is dark enough without my adding a haze to it. The “delete” key is the most valuable tool for my creative process. Wouldn’t want it to get rusty, now!
I wave at you over a mountain of virtual crumpled paper in the corner, and wish you a productive day, whatever that may look like! Have a picture of this turtle I found yesterday. He’s gotten farther than I have today. :)
