Fueled by Wasa rye crackers and some store brand cheddar cheese, I felt born ready. It was time to kick the afternoon gig in the face.
“Goooood afternoon!”
Oh boy did we have a rockin’ time. This place is a day center for seniors. From the arm in arm dancing to the funky tunes, to singing Amazing Grace and the National Anthem, jammin’ to some Frankie Valli, and clapping with Alan Jackson, the afternoon was a lived human experience.
My favorite line from A Christmas Carol is when Marley’s ghost shouts “Mankind is my business!”
It felt like it this afternoon. My BRING JOY t shirt grew splotchy with sweat, we all did the YMCA, and for once, were all the better for disco. (Probably the only time you’ll hear me say that.)
Here’s a bit of the setlist from D-D-D-DEEEJAYY Josh Urban…
These songs are like the smell of coffee in the morning. For all the gunk of life, things like this make one glad to be here.
Crank it.
Can I get an Amen?
