Look at the question that I think you are asking backwards. Freedom is not free, but young sage Josh wonders if it could be. The fact is, freedom costs those who crave control over others their power, ability to manipulate and take advantage of. Consider the "cost" of freedom to the anti-Josh and the reason freedom has to be something to fight for, and often at high cost, might become more clear.

That is right. I'm not saying stop considering the question there, but as I learned in chemistry, often turning a problem on its head gives insight to the solution. So, I believe it is valid to put YOUR price that you'll have to pay in terms of the "cost" to the ones who find advantage in taking YOUR liberty. These people do crave power and because often are also of the sociopath/psychopathic ilk, are willing to take all sorts of risks for the gain. This is why they cannot be fought on your terms, because they do not fight fair. It is brutal.
